10/14/07 - Neglected Issues (Mat. 23:23,24)
Media
Speaker: Bucky Buckles
Jesus points out that the Pharisees and Scribes (the religious leaders of that day) were so focused on their personal devotion to God…BUT…they neglected the more important matters (JUSTICE, MERCY and FAITHfulness).
Jesus does not say that we are to neglect personal devotion. He simply says that we should not neglect the weighty issues pertaining to the needs of others.
Some questions to consider:
1. Personal Devotion to God is important. How would you define “personal devotion”? What does that look like?
2. When it comes to the greater/weightier matters that Jesus mentioned…JUSTICE, MERCY and FAITHfulness? What was he talking about? What does this mean for us as a church community?
